Orthodontics was a formally-dressed group of artists performing adult easy listening pop songs from the 80's and 90's. The music we performed was typically associated with the mundane waiting rooms of doctors, dentists, and orthodontists' offices. However, we found the music to be quite dramatic and full of energy and value. Our goal was to bring out the immense emotional content of these songs thru live performances in actual waiting rooms and reception areas in real offices. The performance was accompanied by the original recording of the songs we were playing, presenting an exaggerated karoke-type situation.
We held three performances: in the Forum Gallery at Cranbrook Academy of Art, in the lobby area of the Art Gallery at Wayne State University, and in the reception area of the administrative offices of Cranbrook Academy of Art.
