Images from the southern edge of the Inter-dispersal Loop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. several highways were planned to converge into a ring around downtown Tulsa in the 1950's. By the completion of the project in the 1960's suburbanization of the city had begun and the downtown rapidly transformed from a dense urban area to one that is now mostly covered in surface parking. This phenomenon occurred in many cities in the central United States.
